Review – #MultiDutyBeauty by Astral Original

Astral Original

A little over a month ago the lovely Astral Original team invited me to lunch in London and I promised you a full review on the skincare that I received so, without further ado here it is.

Lets start off with the Original cream which has been on vanity tables for over 60 years (50ml – £1.29, 200ml – £3.89, 500ml – £7.99).

The Original cream is a thick multi purpose cream which can be used all over the body to tackle those dry nasty patches. I love that it has a very mild fragrance that i find not on pleasant but relaxing.

At the lunch we were told some of the ways in which you can use the cream, below are the ones I have tried and my verdicts:

  • As a moisturiser – Face: A little too heavy for a day cream so, I used this at night and it worked brilliantly. My skin on waking was soft and hydrated and my eczema had not flared up. Body: I used this after showering especially if I had shaved my legs. Normally when I shave my legs they itch like mad no matter what moisturiser I use however, with this cream the itching was significantly lessened. My body felt so hydrated that I did not need to top up before my next shower or bath.
  • As a Face Mask – I avoided any type of moisturiser on my face for a week which resulted in lovely dry patches from my eczema around my nose, mouth and cheek area. I applied a thick layer of the cream and allowed it to sit for 30 mins. I removed the cream with a hot wet muslin cloth and patted my skin dry. My skin felt soft, hydrated and the dry patches had lessened significantly (they only fully disappear with an exfoliator)
  • Makeup Remover – I tried this using a cotton pad on my daily makeup which removed the majority of the makeup accept for stubborn mascara and liner. I wouldnt have expected it to remove as much as it did.

I will be trying some of the other suggestions over time so, I will update you with my thoughts. Overall I think that this cream is amazing especially for the low price and I would most certainly buy it myself.

Astral Soft (100ml – £2.99) is the baby of the brand, it hasn’t been on shelves for long however, its a heavyweight in its own right! Astral Soft is, as you would expect from the name, a lot lighter in texture and certainly geared towards daily beauty. I would liken Astral Soft to Embryolisse but at a fraction of the price.

This product packs all the punch of its older sister and leaves my dry hands and face as soft as a baby’s bottom. I have fallen so in love with this tube of goodness that I use it almost daily on my skin and have a few tubes in my pro kit to use on clients.

So there you have it a massive standing ovation for Astral I am completely in love! If you would like to experience the same joy you can purchase the line from Superdrug.
